Our Farm diary

During July and August we have been busy with harvest, first crop to be ready was our winter barley, this was combined in mid July and the straw quickly baled and brought back into store. August sees the winter wheat and spring peas ready and all harvested dry, into store below 15% moisture content. The straw is all baled and back at the farm.

Attention now turns to think about planting our wild bird seed, stubble turnips and autumn drilling of winter crops.

Due to the dry weather in June up to now we are feeding all our cattle with silage and the young calves have started to eat a cereal mix to help them grow ready for when they wean from their mums in October
